What is a good PSA, Total level?

BioForge works to an optimal range rather than the lab's reference flag. For PSA, Total that is <1.0 under 50 or <2.0 over 50, measured in ng/mL — age dependent. A result inside the lab's normal range can still sit outside the range where most people feel and function well.

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low

<0.5 · Normal; very low is not · a concern

Optimal

<1.0 under 50 · <2.0 over 50

High

What moves PSA, Total

Rises with age and prostate size. Temporarily raised by ejaculation within 48h, hard cycling, a rectal exam, prostatitis or a urinary infection. Halved by finasteride or dutasteride — double the reading if you take either. Expect a modest rise in the first year of therapy.
