Platelets & MPV

Measured in K/uL · MPV fL

Cells that form clots, and their average size. Screened at baseline to rule out a bleeding or clotting disorder before adding a therapy that thickens blood.

What the numbers mean

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low
<150 · Bleeding risk
Optimal
180–320
High
>450 · Clotting / inflammation

What moves Platelets & MPV

Lowered by liver disease, alcohol, some medications, and autoimmune conditions. Raised by inflammation, iron deficiency, infection, and marrow disorders. A high MPV with a low count usually means the marrow is producing hard to keep up — young platelets are larger.
