Uric Acid

Measured in mg/dL

A waste product that forms crystals in joints when it builds up — the cause of gout. Also tracks with blood pressure and metabolic health.

What the numbers mean

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low
<3.0
Optimal
3.5–6.0
High
>8.4 · Gout risk above 7.0

What moves Uric Acid

Raised by alcohol (beer especially), fructose and sugary drinks, red meat and shellfish, dehydration, diuretics, rapid weight loss, and reduced kidney function.
