DHT

Measured in ng/dL — LC-MS/MS

The most potent androgen — testosterone converted by the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme. Drives libido, body hair, and prostate growth, and is the hormone behind male-pattern hair loss.

What the numbers mean

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low
<25 · Often finasteride or dutasteride
Optimal
30–85 · Read against your total T
High
>100 · Conversion, not dose

What moves DHT

Rises with testosterone dose, and much more with topical gels than with injections — skin is dense in 5-alpha-reductase. Also rises with excess body fat. Falls sharply on finasteride or dutasteride. A high DHT alongside a normal testosterone is a conversion issue rather than a dosing one.
