AST

Measured in U/L

A second liver enzyme — but it also leaks from muscle. In lifters, a high AST is often a workout, not a liver.

What the numbers mean

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low
<8
Optimal
10–30
High
>40

What moves AST

Same liver drivers as ALT, plus hard training, muscle damage, and creatine loading. If AST and ALT are both up, check CK — if CK is high too, the source is likely muscle. Avoid training for 48h before the draw.
