Total Bilirubin
A yellow pigment from recycled red blood cells. A mildly high number is very often a harmless inherited trait, not liver disease.
What the numbers mean
These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.
What moves Total Bilirubin
Rises with fasting, dehydration, alcohol, illness, hard exercise, and Gilbert's syndrome (a common, benign genetic variant affecting about 1 in 12 people). Only concerning when the liver enzymes are also elevated.
