Lp(a)

Measured in nmol/L — once per lifetime

A genetically fixed particle that raises heart and clot risk independently of everything else. Test once; it barely changes.

What the numbers mean

These are the ranges BioForge works to. They are not the same as a lab's reference range, which is built from the general population rather than from people who feel well.

Low
Optimal
<75 nmol/L · <30 mg/dL
High
>125 nmol/L · >50 mg/dL

What moves Lp(a)

Essentially set by genetics — diet and exercise barely move it. A high result does not block therapy, but it raises the bar on controlling every other risk factor, including hematocrit.
